Lasker, Emanuel

(1868-1941)
   German chess-master. Born in Berlin, he studied mathematics at university. He became a chess-master and played in various tournaments. He won the world title in 1894. Later he settled in New York and published Lasker's Chess Magazine. His writings include Lasker's Manual of Chess.
